We all want to look perfect on our wedding day, but its more than just getting your makeup right on the day. The key to looking great on your big day, is making your skin look as radiant as you feel and this takes preparation and planning. Here is the first in a series of articles about how to prepare a radiant skin for your wedding.

Clinique Skin Care Products

You need to start your personal skincare programme as early as possible. A facial a few weeks before will help, but will not have as much impact, as putting a robust regime in place and sticking to it.

There are a few questions you need to answer honestly before you plan your regime:
1. What is my current regime and is it working?
2. Do I stick to my regime or find I lack time?
3. Do I know my skin type and does my moisturiser target its specific needs?
4. It is time to change brands? Do not presume the brand you have always used, is the best one to target your needs.

Go to the different skincare houses and ask questions. An investment in key products will be well worth it for your photos and your confidence levels.

The most common concern I hear from clients is they feel their skin is severely dehydrated or they are suffering from blemishes and breakouts. This is usually due to the stress of all the wedding planning and preparations.

A way to test if your skin is dehydrated: slide you index finger down from the middle of your eyebrows to the end of your nose. If your finger doesn’t glide and there is friction then your skin is dehydrated.

Dealing with problem skin

I interviewed wedding photographer Anouschka Rokebrand- skincare devotee and just the person to understand the pressure that problem skin causes brides for their picture perfect day. This is how she combats problem skin:

Q: What is your daily skincare routine?
A: I cleanse my skin in the morning with the Clinique liquid soap and use
moisturiser and eye cream. At night I clean my skin with Clinique cleansers and the lotion, again followed by moisturiser. I only use Clinique, as this is a brand that my (sensitive) skin can deal with.

Q: How long have you been using Clinique?
A: For years! I would think about 16 years now.

Q: If you skin has a breakout , do you have an emergency routine?
A: Yes, I use the Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Treatment Gel by Clinique which works pretty quickly to dry out the pimples.

Q: Which product couldn’t you live without?
A: All of them to be honest but if I have to pick just one, I’d go for the
foaming cleanser as it’s been my favorite for years and years.

Q: Do you change the routine for your holidays?
A: No, I bring everything with me in smaller sizes.

Q: What do you use before a long day shooting?
A: Lots of moisturizer, I need to keep my skin hydrated.

Clarins Pure & Radiant Mask

Another gentle and effective product to try if you are having skin breakouts before your wedding day is Clarins Masque Purifiant Eclat. Use at least once a week, also effective on back and chest area.
